“I had made the acquaintance of Quatrocentimos, the heroic firehouse dog, the firemen’s mascot.” Memoirs of Alice Guy Blaché This is a photo of Valparaiso’s heroic dog named Cuatro Remos. He was a firehouse dog who rescued a child and took pennies to the baker to get a tortilla. He lived before Alice’s time, 1860-1872, but apparently his successor was also trained to carry pennies to the baker. The Adventures of Cuatro Remos, a novel, was published in 1883, and made into at least one film. JJ Dietrick |
